Watching the Sunset

"Everyone stands alone at the heart of the world pierced by a ray of sunlight and suddenly it’s evening"
-Salvatore Quasimodo

Originally this was the last verse of a poem by Salvatore Quasimodo called “Solitudini”.  It was later shortened to these three, hermetic verses.  The poem reflects the existential condition of man: solitude, the pain of living, and the brevity of life itself.
